Your clause, bio line and strip

This is a plain description of your process, not legal wording. Only include what you actually do, and check it fits your platform’s rules and your other terms. Changing your choices above rewrites the text, so edit last.

Strip for your commission sheet

If you date stages with a TimeBind, date your first stage at your next commission. One TimeBind holds up to 10 files, so a stage’s files can go together.

Commission Process Promise is a free tool made by Inna Hall at TimeBinder, in Brisbane.

Clients sometimes ask how a piece was made. A short line in your terms, saying which stage files you keep and whether you date them, answers that before anyone asks. Tick what you do and this page writes the clause, a bio line and a small strip for your commission sheet. Edit anything before you copy it.

Worth knowing: the clause is your own description of how you work. Only promise what you’ll really do at every commission.

What is a process clause?

Short answer: a short paragraph in your commission terms that says which stage files you keep, whether you date them, and what you’ll share. It tells clients how you work before they ask. It’s a plain description in your own words, not legal wording, and it doesn’t show who made the work or whether AI was used.

What is TimeBinder? TimeBinder is a blockchain timestamping service. It shows that a digital file existed no later than a specific time, and that it still matches its fingerprint, by anchoring the file’s SHA-256 fingerprint to the Bitcoin blockchain. Files are hashed in your browser and never uploaded, and each TimeBind comes with a Proof of Time Certificate that can be checked later. It doesn’t show who created a file or that its contents are true.

How Commission Process Promise works

Three steps, once, then keep to it at every commission.

  1. Tick what you keep.

Choose the stages you save for every commission.

sketch · line art · final
  2. Choose how you date and share them.

With a TimeBind at key stages, or not at all.

dated at approval and at delivery
  3. Copy and download.

Paste the clause into your terms, the line into your bio, and add the strip to your commission sheet.

How to date a stage with a TimeBind

If your clause says you date stages, here’s how to do it.

  1. Save the stage file.

For example, the sketch the client approved.

    sketch-approved.png
  2. TimeBind it.

Open the TimeBinder app and add the file. It’s hashed on your device, and the file isn’t uploaded. A TimeBind is usually recorded within 24 to 48 hours, and often sooner, depending on Bitcoin network activity.

    only the fingerprint is recorded
  3. Keep the file unchanged.

A TimeBind records that the file existed no later than the recorded time. Later, you can show that the file still matches its fingerprint.

What dated stages do, and don’t, show

A TimeBind shows

  • That a stage file existed no later than the time recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain
  • Later, that a file still matches its fingerprint

It doesn’t show

  • Who made the file
  • Whether AI was used at any stage
  • That you followed your process or kept your clause
  • Whether a client, platform or payment provider will accept it

The clause and strip are

  • Your own description of your process
  • They don’t add anything to a TimeBind, and nobody checks them
  • Not a contract or legal document, and not legal advice

Commission Process Promise: FAQ

What is a process clause?

A short paragraph in your commission terms that says which stage files you keep, whether you date them, and what you’ll share. It tells clients how you work before they ask.

Is anything I type stored?

No. The page builds the text and image in your browser and forgets them when you close it. The site’s analytics count visits and when the tool is used, with nothing you tick or type.

Do I need a TimeBind to use the clause?

No. Choose “I keep the files but don’t TimeBind them” and the clause leaves dating out. If you do date stages, a TimeBind records that each file existed no later than the recorded time.

Which stages should I date?

A simple pattern is to date the sketch when the client approves it and the final at delivery: two TimeBinds per commission. Date only what you’ll do every time.

Does the clause show that I made the work, or that no AI was used?

No. It describes your process in your words. A TimeBind shows when a file existed and later that it still matches its fingerprint; it doesn’t show who made it or how.

Can I edit the clause?

Yes. Edit it in the box before you copy it, and keep it true to what you do. It’s plain wording, not legal advice, and it isn’t a contract on its own.

Keep the promise easy to keep

Promise only what you’ll really do at every commission. Two stages, dated at approval and at delivery, are a simple place to start.

Your work stays privateCommission Process Promise reads no files. The TimeBinder app hashes files on your own device, and your files are never uploaded or stored by TimeBinder.
