Anyone can fake a date. Now AI can fake the file too.
File dates, email timestamps and screenshots can be edited in seconds, and AI can produce a convincing copy of almost anything. If a client, collaborator or competitor ever questions when your work existed, it’s your word against theirs.
The risk
You share a demo, a design or a draft, and later someone claims they had it first.
The weak spot
Your only evidence is metadata and emails that anyone can change.
The fix
A fingerprint of your file on the Bitcoin blockchain: a public record no single company controls.
Takes about a minute. Free to start.
From file to proof in three simple steps
No crypto, no wallet and nothing to install. If you can attach a file to an email, you can TimeBind it.
Add your file
Sign in and add your file in the TimeBinder app. It creates a SHA-256 fingerprint: a unique 64-character code. Only the fingerprint is recorded, never the file, so it stays completely private.
Lock in the date
We record the fingerprint on the Bitcoin blockchain. Choose Pooled (about 24 to 36 hours) or ASAP (broadcast straight away).
Keep your certificate
Download a Proof of Time Certificate that shows when your file existed and that it hasn’t changed since.
Whatever you make, prove when it existed

Your certificate includes
- Three recorded times: when we received your TimeBind, when it was submitted to Bitcoin, and when it was confirmed in a block.
- The Bitcoin transaction ID, so the record can be looked up on a public block explorer.
- Each file’s SHA-256 fingerprint, so any copy can be re-checked byte for byte.
- A QR code and step-by-step manual verification, so others can check it without taking your word for it.

Know exactly what your proof covers
Honest claims are the ones that hold up. Here’s precisely what a TimeBind shows, and what it doesn’t.
A TimeBind shows
- This exact file existed no later than the time recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain.
- The file hasn’t changed since: altering a single byte gives a completely different fingerprint.
- Your contents stay private: only the fingerprint is recorded, never the file.
A TimeBind does not show
- Who created the file (authorship or ownership).
- That the contents are true or accurate.
- That a document is legally admissible on its own. It is supporting evidence; courts and advisers decide how it is used.
ASAP TimeBinds can be verified independently on the Bitcoin blockchain, even without TimeBinder. Pooled TimeBinds are verified through TimeBinder. Pooled vs ASAP explained
Watch a file get TimeBound in 80 seconds
A real screen recording: the file is fingerprinted in the browser, anchored to Bitcoin, and the certificate is issued.
Relied on by people who can’t afford doubt
TimeBinder has become part of our evidence workflow. It gives clients confidence that every file we handle is time-locked and verifiable. Verification is possible later by comparing the file hash to the blockchain record.
Jonathan, Melbourne, AU
We use TimeBinder to anchor engineering drawings. It’s simple, fast, and removes any doubt about document integrity. Verification is achieved through comparing the file's hash to the blockchain record.
Maria, London, UK
As a litigator, proving when something existed is critical. TimeBinder delivers that proof instantly and without compromising client privacy. Verification is performed by comparing the file hash to the blockchain record.

Your questions, answered
Is my file uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. Your file is fingerprinted on your own device and never uploaded or stored by TimeBinder. Only the hash, a short one-way SHA-256 fingerprint, is used for blockchain anchoring. Nobody can rebuild your file from it.
Will a TimeBind stand up as legal proof?
A Proof of Time Certificate is strong supporting evidence that a specific file existed by a particular blockchain time and hasn’t changed since. It does not prove who created the file or that its contents are true, and it isn’t admissible on its own: courts and your advisers decide how evidence is used.
Do I need to understand Bitcoin or own any crypto?
No. You don’t need a wallet, coins or any technical knowledge. Use the free plan, or pay for extra TimeBinds by credit or debit card. We handle the blockchain side for you.
How much does it cost?
The free plan includes 1 Pooled TimeBind a month. A single Pooled TimeBind is $5, a single ASAP TimeBind is $15, and plans start at $20 a month. Verifying a TimeBind is always free.
What’s the difference between Pooled and ASAP?
Pooled TimeBinds combine many users’ fingerprints into one blockchain entry, usually recorded within about 24 to 36 hours, and are verified through TimeBinder. ASAP TimeBinds go into their own Bitcoin transaction, broadcast straight away, and can be verified independently even if TimeBinder’s website is offline.
Can a TimeBind be verified without TimeBinder?
ASAP TimeBinds can. Re-hash the file with any standard SHA-256 tool and compare the result with the Bitcoin transaction on the Proof of Time Certificate, using any public block explorer. Pooled TimeBinds are verified through TimeBinder.
How does TimeBinder help against AI fakes and backdating?
AI can produce convincing fake or backdated files in seconds, but it can’t change a record already in a Bitcoin block. If you TimeBind your original, you can later show which version existed by that time. Any edited copy produces a different fingerprint.
How secure are SHA-256 and Bitcoin anchoring?
SHA-256 is a widely used cryptographic standard (Bitcoin itself relies on it), and there is no known practical way to create a different file with the same fingerprint. Once a transaction is buried under later Bitcoin blocks, rewriting it is economically infeasible, which is what makes the timestamp dependable.
What times are recorded?
Three: (1) when your file’s fingerprint is submitted to TimeBinder, (2) when it’s submitted to the Bitcoin network as a transaction, and (3) when that transaction is mined into a Bitcoin block. The block time is the cryptographically verifiable point: the file existed no later than that.
What files can I TimeBind, and how many at once?
Any file type: audio, images, video, PDFs, drawings, code, spreadsheets and more. Each TimeBind holds up to 10 files, and the price doesn’t depend on file size or type.
Why not just email the file to myself?
Email dates and file metadata are easy to edit, and cloud records depend on one company keeping them. A Bitcoin-anchored timestamp sits on a public ledger that no single company controls, so it can still be checked years from now.
