Proof of Creation for Songwriters and Musicians

You wrote the hook in a voice memo at 2am. You sent a demo to a producer a week later. Months on, a similar track appears. If you ever need to show what you had, and when, screenshots and file dates will not carry much weight because they are easy to change.

TimeBinder gives songwriters, producers and bands independent proof that a lyric sheet, demo, stem or session file existed at a specific time, recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain, without uploading the music.

What musicians TimeBind

  • Lyric sheets, chord charts and voice memos
  • Demos, stems, bounces and final masters
  • DAW session files and project folders (zip them first)
  • Split sheets agreed after a writing session
  • Beats and toplines before you send them to collaborators, labels or sync agents

How it works

  1. Choose up to 10 files. Any file type and size works.
  2. Your browser calculates each file’s SHA-256 fingerprint. The files themselves are never uploaded, so unreleased work stays on your device.
  3. Choose Pooled (batched with other TimeBinds, usually recorded within about 24–36 hours) or ASAP (your own Bitcoin transaction, broadcast straight away and verifiable without TimeBinder).
  4. Download your Proof of Time Certificate, a PDF with a QR code and the Bitcoin transaction ID.
  5. Keep your original files unchanged. Anyone you share access with can later re-check a file against the record in their browser.

Use it with your split sheets

Writing sessions move fast, and disagreements about splits often surface only when a song earns money. Agree the splits on the day with our free Split Sheet Generator, then TimeBind the signed sheet with the session files so everyone has the same timed record.

Before you send a demo

A good habit: TimeBind each demo before it leaves your hands. If a collaborator, label or another artist later releases something similar, you can show exactly which version you had and when, and anyone you authorise can check it in their browser.

What a TimeBind proves, and what it does not. A TimeBind proves that your file existed no later than the time it was recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain, and that it has not changed since. It does not prove who created the file, that its contents are true, or that a court will admit it. It is independent evidence of timing to use alongside your other records, and it is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to register copyright in my song in Australia?

No. In Australia copyright arises automatically when an original work is written down or recorded; there is no registration system. That is why independent evidence of when your work existed can be useful if a dispute arises.

Does a TimeBind prove I wrote the song?

No. It proves your file existed by a certain time and has not changed since. Together with your drafts, session files, split sheets and messages, that timing can support your account of who created what and when.

Can I TimeBind an unreleased track without anyone hearing it?

Yes. Your browser calculates a fingerprint of the file and only that fingerprint is recorded. The audio never leaves your device, and you decide who can verify it.

Is this the same as registering with APRA AMCOS?

No. Registering works with a collecting society is how you get paid royalties. A TimeBind is timing evidence. Many songwriters will want both.
